Historic old town with brick churches, gabled houses and small alleyways
In the city center, the spruced-up gabled houses are densely packed, in between the idyllic Convent of the Holy Cross with the Museum of Cultural History and the oldest university in Northern Europe. The Rostock Heath opens up to the east of the Warnow, directly behind the dunes. The primeval coastal forest is home to numerous animal and plant species and is ideal for hiking and cycling along the Baltic Sea Cycle Route. The mild, stimulating climate of the Baltic Sea also promotes physical well-being.
