Historic old town with brick churches, gabled houses and small alleyways
In the city center, the spruced-up gabled houses are densely packed, in between the idyllic Convent of the Holy Cross with the Museum of Cultural History and the oldest university in Northern Europe. Many shops, boutiques, cafés and restaurants are lined up along the narrow streets and around Kröpeliner Strasse. The market square is adorned with the baroque-clad sieve pink town hall. Seaside resort Warnemünde
At the point where the Warnow flows into the Baltic Sea lies Rostock's "beautiful daughter", the seaside resort of Warnemünde. Rostocker Heide - active recreation in nature
The Rostock Heath opens up to the east of the Warnow, directly behind the dunes. The primeval coastal forest is home to numerous animal and plant species and is ideal for hiking and cycling along the Ostseeküsten-Radweg. The mild, stimulating climate of the Baltic Sea also promotes physical well-being.
