The federal government isn’t just spouting plenty of nonsense at the gas station; an orange president continues to wait in vain for a donor brain; the German national soccer team comes in first; a whale was found dead in the Baltic Sea; and plenty of other reasons to have a good laugh at the year all over again: Comedy pros Henning Ruwe and Martin Valenske pull no punches, deliver punchlines more punctually than the trains, and address the need for satirical discourse with plenty of fresh wit as well as sharp and blunt remarks. The audience can expect a furious year-in-review with a well-measured dose of biting satire. Warning: very funny!
The Cabaret Duo
Since 2015, the comedy duo Ruwe/Valenske has been known for high-quality performances addressing relevant topics, handpicked punchlines, and cheeky remarks. They made a name for themselves at the Berliner Distel—as big as a cabaret act can get—and have almost won various stage awards. Henning Ruwe was even awarded the Rostock Koggenzieher in Gold, but that was probably a mistake on the jury’s part. Berlin native Martin Valenske and Henning Ruwe, who hails from the Münsterland region but now lives elsewhere, are the last representatives of true political cabaret—and they never forget to finally take the whole thing seriously again with a touch of humor.
