Many residents and visitors to the Freetz and Wobbantz settlements have noticed in recent weeks how colorful the fields and meadows in the region have become in recent years. Lush roadsides, flowering meadows and many flowering areas dot the agricultural landscape and are a feast for the eyes! But not only that, they also provide a habitat for many rare animal and plant species that have become scarce elsewhere. The FINC Foundation from Greifswald has now been managing these areas organically for four years and has also taken numerous measures to increase the diversity of species and biodiversity in this cultivated landscape in the biosphere reserve. This includes the cultivation of old cereal varieties such as "Pommersche Dickkopf", light rye, spelt, flax and buckwheat, which have almost been forgotten.
