Before the vacation begins or you want to find out about a destination, it is often helpful to take a look at the surroundings of the place in advance, either to get an impression of the weather or simply to get to know the area.Around the clock there are exciting and interesting things to discover. From the new Rügenbr bridge to the old Rügendamm, from the impressive panorama of the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town with the unique OZEANEUM, the waves whipped up by the wind in the Strelasund, rocking fishing boats to  or sea eagles, of which there are many on the island.

In the north-east of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania lies the largest island in Germany: Rügen. Its many seascapes, imposing chalk cliffs and miles of beaches are popular destinations for holidaymakers and locals alike. But the numerous fishing villages are also always worth a detour and invite you to linger and stroll. One of these tranquil little towns is Altefähr, which has been recognized as a state seaside resort since 2016. The webcam is located here, right next to the Rügenbrücke to be precise. From here, it transmits great real-time images 24 hours a day and brings the flair of Germany's largest island directly to the monitors.
