Excursion destinations in fall with children

The Hochuferweg in Jasmund National Park on Rügen is ideal for families and offers plenty of adventures for children along the way. One highlight is the National Park Center KÖNIGSSTUHL with its interactive stations, where children can playfully learn more about the formation of the chalk cliffs and the animals of the national park.

On the way from Lohme to Sassnitz, wide, easily accessible paths invite you to go on discovery tours, and on the beach below the chalk cliffs, you can find fossils and chicken bones. Breathtaking views of the sea and forest accompany the hike, which is also suitable for strollers.  

In the Baltic Sea resort of Boltenhagen, the beach becomes an adventure playground: Children can collect seashells, sticks, and even amber to make their own artwork. Summer bids farewell in an atmospheric setting illuminated by the magical glow of torches.

In Trassenheide, a Baltic Sea resort, there’s also plenty to experience: The child-friendly beach with shallow water is perfect for kite-flying and ghost festivals, and creative workshops like pyrography and geocaching offer plenty of variety. On the 13,000-square-meter Pirate Island, many more adventures await guests of all ages. 

At the NABU KRANICHWELTEN Nature Center , families can learn all about the fascinating cranes, their food, roosting sites, and the birds’ loud trumpeting (open from March through October). Fall is also the perfect time to visit the Bernsteinreiter Adventure Stables, where programs for all ages and riding levels, stable tours, craft activities, and an indoor play area await guests.

At the Wildpark-MV in Güstrow, visitors of all ages can walk into some of the enclosures and experience native animals up close. Playgrounds, a high ropes course, and the “Glitter in the Dark” with festive lighting create additional magical moments. Things also get exciting during the evening wolf walks, when these nocturnal animals become active. 

In the Sea Museum and the OZEANEUM, children can immerse themselves in the fascinating underwater world and learn all about the North Sea and Baltic Sea, tropical fish and coral reefs in a fun way at interactive stations.

The Schabbell in Wismar, also known as the Stadtgeschichtliches Museum der Hansestadt Wismar, presents a journey back in time to the Hanseatic era with multimedia exhibitions and interactive stations that bring history to life - from trade routes and historical games to medieval craft techniques.

Karls Erlebnis-Dörfer in Rövershagen, Zirkow and Koserow offer adventures regardless of the weather: from corn labyrinths and creepy castles to Christmas markets and ice worlds.

The Phänomenta in Peenemünde inspires with over 200 interactive stations that invite children to experiment and discover physical phenomena.

At the MÜRITZEUM in Waren (Müritz), children discover the fascinating flora and fauna of the Mecklenburg Lake District and the Müritz National Park. In Germany’s largest aquarium complex dedicated to native freshwater fish, they can dive beneath the surface of the 1,000 lakes. Interactive themed rooms, nature experiences, and a water and adventure playground make the visit a varied family experience.

At the AGRONEUM Alt Schwerin children discover rural life of days gone by among historic buildings, farm machinery, and workshops. Through demonstrations, hands-on activities, and vacation workshops, agricultural history comes to life—from craftsmanship to technology.

At the Malchow Ice Rink , children skate year-round on the 600-square-meter artificial ice rink. Whether ice skating, taking beginner lessons, or attending the ice disco, there’s athletic fun for the whole family. Skates and helmets can be rented on site.

At the Schwerin-Mueß Open-Air Museum, you’ll immerse yourself in the world of a Mecklenburg village. History comes to life among farmhouses, workshops, and traditional crafts.
