19th Annual Stralsund Pottery Market at the Alter Markt
Once again this year, from August 6–8, Stralsund’s “Alter Markt” will be transformed into a sea of clay and colors, with a wide variety of ceramics awaiting interested visitors. More than 30 pottery workshops and studios have confirmed their participation and will present their work with expertise and care. Lovers of unique, maritime-themed ceramics will find just what they’re looking for at the Stralsund Pottery Market, as will fans of “rustic functional ceramics” or lovingly designed children’s tableware. A Hungarian ocarina stand demonstrates that special instruments can also be made from clay, featuring unique garden ceramics, vibrant ceramic flowers, and delicate faience painting—just a few more examples of the nearly inexhaustible variety of ceramics on display. A foot-powered potter’s wheel over 100 years old will be in action “live,” weather permitting. Wood and amber crafts, delicate knitted art, and one-of-a-kind soap creations round out the creative craft offerings. The market experience is complemented by fine spices and exotic teas, traditional Dutch cheese, and natural honey. The pottery market is open on Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All residents and visitors to Stralsund are cordially invited to stop by.
