The Advent market in Ulrichshusen opens at around 12 noon. Then the stalls open with their gifts and the castle's own Christmas kitchen serves up all kinds of treats. Kamila and Olivia are ready for a hearty lunch. The teenager goes for the truffle pasta from the Parmesan loaf, while Kamila prefers game and dumplings.
Christmas presents are discussed over lunch. Maybe you'll find a little something or two for Christmas Eve. After a delicious waffle for dessert, Olivia heads straight for the Christmas bakery. Baumkuchenspitzen, walnut dreams and cranberry granola cakes go into the pots for home. At the Christoph Bader ceramics workshop stand, they could have conveniently bought the cookie tin at the same time. But they were more interested in the crowns, which Kamila thinks are "very chic" as a vase.
The Advent market in Ulrichshusen enchants with handicrafts and unusual eye-catchers. A yoga center sells shawls, goldsmith Carolin Stoppa her jewelry creations, in which she doesn't want to see any right angles. It should and does look like it has grown. Steffi from Usedom sells candles in the shape of shells, lighthouses or fir trees made from regional rapeseed wax and the Ulrichshusen workshop entices visitors with particularly fine vinegar.
There are plenty of delicacies here. Country jams from Austria, onion lard bread from master confectioner Enrica Korsinski, who has made it her mission to produce exclusively with organic butter and organic spelt flour. Kamila thinks the marzipan breads with coffee make a lovely gift for friends and buys a handful straight away. »Look, Mom«, calls Olivia. She stands in front of small art frames with sayings on them and little stones stuck like figures. »The key to happiness is on the inside«, I think it's really nice. Kamila lovingly strokes her daughter's head. »Yes, that's really nice.«
