As the nights grow longer, select castles, museums, galleries, and other cultural institutions invite you to their Art and Culture Nights.
At the Ludwigsluster KUKUNA, idyllic courtyards and historic houses become the stage. For this event, Ludwigslust Castle invites visitors to a guided tour of the castle clock.
The town of Klütz opens its gates and doors in October for the Klütz KulTOUR Night as night falls. Whether it’s music, painting, literature, fascinating light installations, relaxation, goldsmithing, or puppetry.
“Pay nothing—experience a lot” applies to the Schwerin Light Stroll, which is part of the Old Town Festival. Light displays and atmospheric lighting invite visitors to discover the city.
4th Day of the Open Monument
free of charge to all castles and monuments
Open Monument Day takes place every year on the second Sunday in September.
On this day, many monuments that are otherwise closed to the public are open and can be visited as part of guided tours and exhibitions. Be sure to mark this date on your calendar!

Today's Fangel Tower was built in the 16th century as a round brick tower. It has a height of 12 meters, a diameter of 7.5 meters and a wall thickness of about 2-2.3 meters. It is possible that in the area of today's Fangelturm there was already a predecessor building of the city fortifications erected between 1325 and 1400, which is indicated by the name "nova turris", the "new tower", for today's building.

The town church in Stavenhagen was built in the 18th century. It is not known whether there was a church or chapel in the town's old castle until the Reformation. St. Mary's Church is the oldest preserved building on the Island of Rügen and was consecrated as a Romanesque palatine and monastery church in 1193 together with the monastery located next to it. Special features are the baptismal font from the 14th century, the altar from around 1730, the baroque pulpit from 1776 andthe church bell from 1445.

One of the highlights is the castle in a blaze of light, and you can also look forward to arts and crafts, all kinds of homemade products and culinary delights from the region.
At the Christmas market in the castle wall in Plau am See, you can marvel at great craftsmanship, music, lots of hands-on activities for young and old and theater of a very special kind.
The Festival Winter of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival unfolds with its Advent and Christmas concerts for musical enjoyment in a historic castle setting.
