From the end of October, the listed manor houses, castles and manor houses between the Baltic Sea and the Lake District will once again be inviting visitors to Schlösserherbst 2026. In keeping with the harvest thanksgiving season and when the leaves turn colorful, there is a lot to discover in the historic estates.
Exciting castle and park tours, top-class concerts, fascinating exhibitions, romantic readings and numerous culinary events take place in the venerable manor houses. Guesthouses and castle hotels offer special accommodation offers and hotel packages.
For centuries, the manor house in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern was the center of the large agricultural estates that have been the defining element of the landscape around the Baltic Sea since the end of the 18th century. Despite the separation of buildings from the land and the "re-use" of the estate ensembles after 1945, an astonishing number have been preserved to this day. Tourist and cultural use now offers a sustainable future for the old estates.
Thanks to the commitment of mostly private actors, the estates are now versatile places for rural tourism that combine culture, nature and regional enjoyment.New 2026: Part of a Baltic Sea route
This year, the Schlösserherbst has a special atmosphere - that of new beginnings. The listed manor houses in MV are now part of the newly established Baltic Manor House Cultural Route. A route is being created along the Baltic Sea that connects unique cultural heritage: from Sweden and Denmark via Germany and Poland to Latvia and Lithuania.
What begins here in 2026 will bear the seal of the Council of Europe's European Cultural Routes in the coming years. One coast, many stories – and MV right in the middle of it all.
Opening events
Concerts in baroque halls, park tours in the autumn light, exhibitions, candlelit readings and tables with regional game dishes: The program of Schlösserherbst 2026 is as diverse as the houses themselves.
Two opening highlights will kick things off on October 24: Elke Siml's exhibition will end with a musical finissage at the Kranich Museum & Hotel in Gut Hessenburg from 4 pm. In the evening, at 8 pm, the YARO workshop concert will fill the baroque hall of Vietgest Castle with young, lively and unexpected music.
