The 'Alte Strom' was the only shipping route to the Rostock harbour until 1903. Today only yachts, passenger ships and fishing boats anchor here.
In addition to the many attractive boutiques and fishing pubs, the Alte Strom offers a distinctive maritime atmosphere. Strolling along the moorings and linger in one of the many cafés, pubs and ice cream parlours is a unique experience.

The converted old pigsty in Poppendorf has been given a new lease of life. In the in-house café, the village store as well as online store, homemade and regional food in organic quality is sold.
From place of detention to place of remembrance
The former Cistercian nunnery was founded in 1270 by the Danish Queen Margaret. The monastery was named after a splinter from the cross of Jesus Christ. Today, the former monastery houses the Museum of Cultural History, one of the largest and most important collections of cultural and art history in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
