The converted old pigsty in Poppendorf has been given a new lease of life. In the in-house café, the village store as well as online store, homemade and regional food in organic quality is sold.
From pigsty to adventure farm: When Volker Schenzle started to expand the old pigsty, the building was badly dilapidated and unusable. He had a great vision: Poppendorf should have a village store, a café and creative spaces. With subsidies and a lot of own work, a beautiful building was gradually erected.
Now, in addition to the actual village store, there is a café with a pub, a painter's studio, a dance and cinema hall, a sewing and a ceramics workshop, as well as a festival barn, a playground and two smoking and stone ovens each. The great desire was to develop a non-profit concept, which not only includes the village store and café, but also revives the village character. Thus, in addition to events, also the rental of premises or participation and community service are on the program.
