As one of the largest baroque palace complexes in northern Germany, culture enthusiasts and romantics should pay a visit to Bothmer Castle. The path to the castle and the surrounding park leads through the nearly 270-meter-long Festonallee. Built in the 18th century, it is situated on an island surrounded by a moat, following the Dutch model. In the summer months, numerous music concerts attract visitors to the castle park.

Rhododendron Park Graal-Müritz

It is unique in Mecklenburg: the Rhododendron Park in Graal-Müritz. Located directly behind the dunes of the Baltic Sea beach, nature lovers can enjoy the colorful splendor of the species-rich heather in one of the largest gardens of its kind in Germany. Around 2,500 plants fill the air here between May and June with their unmistakable scent.

Rostock Zoo

A visit to the Rostock Zoo is worthwhile for a family vacation: Around 4,200 animals from all over the world can be marveled at here in just one day. While the Darwineum sends young and old on a spectacular journey through evolution, they meet man's closest relative in the Tropical Hall: the playful orangutans and gorillas bursting with strength. Bastorf Lighthouse

Situated at a height of 78 meters and with an own height of almost 21 meters, the red brick tower has the highest beacon, which can be found at the German coastal waters: The height of the fire of the Bastorf lighthouse reaches a whole 95.3 meters. For hikers, the tower thus represents a suitable hiking destination that is not easily lost sight of.

World Heritage House in Wismar

Families and those interested in culture can take a look at the history of the Hanseatic city through the ages at the World Heritage House in Wismar. In the process, visitors also learn a lot of interesting facts about the function and goals of UNESCO, while on the upper floor, the restored Wallpaper Hall tells the Greek myth of "Telemach's Journey to the Island of the Goddess Calypso" in an impressive panoramic painting.
