Island of Poel

Rest and Relaxation in the Midst of Pristine Nature

The island of Poel, located in the Wismar Bay, welcomes travelers with a natural landscape and a lot of originality. Perhaps it is due to the narrow bridge causeway that connects the island with the mainland that Poel has been able to preserve its pure nature. There are no colorful promenades or long promenades here, but endless, lush green meadows interrupted by dead-straight fields.

Between the bright yellow rapeseed blossoms, vermilion roofs suddenly rise up into the bright blue sky and tranquil villages along the way welcome guests. The fine powdery sand with the gentle sound of the sea in the background invites you to relax and unwind and the Baltic Sea promises cooling on hot days. Here you can still watch seabirds breeding and majestic swans use Poel as a refuge on their journey towards the south.

Holidays on the island of Poel are also a real insider tip for water sports enthusiasts. The main town of Kirchdorf can be accessed directly from the Baltic Sea via a fjord-like inlet for boats with a draught of up to two meters. And in Timmendorf, not only the modernized marina but also the lighthouse built in 1871 welcomes water sports enthusiasts, anglers and boat excursionists. You can also go water skiing, kitesurfing or diving here.
