On Saturday, October 3, the Friends' Association invites you to an exciting evening excursion along the Ziddorfer Mühlenbach stream. Under the expert guidance of Peter Boye, young naturalists will follow in the footsteps of the small, nocturnal mammals that live in this special environment. During the tour, participants are given a vivid introduction to the secret life of mice: from their way of life and preferred habitats to their behavior at dusk, the fascinating behavior of these animals is illuminated.
Another highlight of the tour is the joint inspection of animal-friendly live traps. The youngsters have the opportunity to observe the trapped mice briefly before they are immediately released back into the wild. Peter Boye provides interesting facts about the different types of mice in the region and their important role in the ecosystem. The explanation of how mice survive in nature, the enemies they face and why they are indispensable for the balance in the habitat of streams and meadows is particularly exciting.
The excursion is aimed exclusively at young people aged 12 to 18 who would like to gain an insight into the hidden world of mice. For parents, a guided walk to watch cranes is offered at the same time. The meeting point is at 5 p.m. at the Ziddorfer Mühle. Those who would like a lift from Teterow have the opportunity to do so from Platz des Friedens at 4:30 pm.
The hike will be repeated on Sunday morning, but it will start at 8 a.m., or departure from Platz des Friedens in Teterow at 7:30 a.m..
