Pasternack Bigband - Swing from the Baltic Sea coast
The performances of the versatile Pasternack Big Band - original in line-up and unique in sound - are a feast for the eyes and ears. The wide-ranging repertoire extends from jazz standards of the 1920s to modern big band compositions and includes swing, Latin, rock, tango, rumba, Viennese waltz, hits and much more. The musicians around bandleader Andreas Pasternack seduce their audience with their joy of playing and charm at a high musical level.
Andreas Pasternack
Saxophonist, singer and presenter Andreas Pasternack is one of the best-known and most popular artists in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. He has made guest appearances in Poland, Belgium, Japan and the USA and hosts his own weekly radio show on NDR 1 Radio MV. Thanks to his inimitably charming and humorous stage presence and his almost unsurpassable musical variety, he has gained a fan base that now extends far beyond the borders of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Our history
The formation was founded in 1989 by saxophonist Günter Kaiser as the big band of the Rudolf Wagner-Régeny Conservatory in Rostock. Saxophonist Andreas Pasternack joined the band in 1994, took over as leader in 1999 and set new musical accents and standards. The Pasternack Bigband has since made a name for itself not only in the music scene of the Hanseatic city of Rostock, but also nationwide. Concerts with prominent musicians such as Bill Ramsey, Jens Winther, Günther Fischer, Uschi Brüning & Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky, Bridget Fogle, Rigmor Gustafsson, Malene Mortensen, Marc Secara and others have been special experiences.
