A little pearl on the Peene: between Anklam, Greifswald and the Island of Usedom, directly on the Peene Valley Landscape Nature Park, lies the 450-year-old moated castle of Quilow. Built in 1575, today it is one of the few surviving Renaissance manor houses in Vorpommern and is considered a monument of national value. Anyone expecting a "manor house ambience" in the style of the supposedly good old days is in for a surprise. Parts of the castle display uses and designs from several centuries side by side and on top of each other according to the concept of "transparent monument preservation". Old wounds and attempts to heal them are still visible. In this way, the castle itself becomes an exhibit and at the same time offers inspiring spaces for workshops, art and much more.
