Midsummer Concert – A magical summer evening full of enchanting sounds
Bach meets Persian melodies, Latvian folk songs, and improvisation: On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 7:30 p.m., the MoonBach duo will perform at the Inselkirche in Kirchdorf on Poel.
The MoonBach project by violinist Azadeh Maghsoodi and multi-instrumentalist Andis Paegle combines selected works by Johann Sebastian Bach with Persian melodies and Latvian “dainas” (folk songs)—the cultural roots of both musicians. With this unusual combination of violin, Fender Rhodes, and Hohner Clavinet D6, a fascinating soundscape emerges that blends Baroque music, folk music, and free improvisation.
The passionate violin tells of the magic of the night and the brightness of the moon. The characteristic keyboard instruments of the 1970s lend the program a special timbre and reflect the duo’s fascination with space exploration and lunar science.
Seamless transitions between the pieces create a cohesive musical arc that takes the audience on an atmospheric journey—inspired by the night, moonlight, and the special mood of a midsummer night.
