How midwives and monks shaped everyday life
The exhibition is dedicated to the history of holistic healthcare and contrasts the work of the Cistercian monks in medieval Doberan with the knowledge of midwives and (supposed) witches of the 16th and 17th centuries. In addition, the more recent development of midwifery - from the founding of the midwives' association in Doberan to the regulations during the Nazi era and the "nationalized" midwife in the GDR - will be highlighted.
The presentation is rounded off with a look at the present day of everyday midwifery, today's working methods, challenges and the continuation of traditional knowledge in modern practice.
