Kirch Stück: On Friday, August 7, 2026, at 7:30 p.m., the Friends of the Church in Kirch Stück e.V. will host a concert under the theme “KLEZ AND MORE” featuring
The String Company at St. George’s Church in Kirch Stück, An der Chaussee 2, 19069 Kirch Stück.
World music—Balkan—Gypsy—Klezmer—chanson—these are the hallmarks of the Erfurt-based ensemble The String Company. The musicians come from diverse musical backgrounds and know how to express this “versatility” in their music.
The concert weaves a rich mosaic of sounds, rhythms, and melodies from the world music, Balkan, Klezmer, and folk traditions. In this way, a wonderful bridge is built between the different cultures that the musicians bring to life through their music. Viola player Lev Guzman, born in Uzbekistan, and Serbian accordionist Ljubo Mitrović have brought the passionate klezmer and Balkan music of their homelands with them and found fellow musicians in the band who appreciate and carry forward the rich colors and narrative power of this music. The program features songs in English, Russian, Polish, Yiddish, Hebrew, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Serbian, Arabic, and German.
At the heart of the concert, the ensemble presents the song cycle based on the Jewish Treasure of Erfurt: By breathing life into the famous wedding ring, the harp key, and a small silver box from the Jewish Treasure through music and poetic texts, these items are transformed from mere objects into living testimonies of our history.
Everyone is warmly invited! Admission is free; at the end of the event, we will collect donations to cover the costs of the event and to fund construction projects in and around St. George’s Church in Kirch Stück.
