"De gröne Dumen för Unkruut" - Low German afternoon with Matthias Stührwoldt
Matthias Stührwoldt, born in 1968, married with five children, is a farmer and author in Stolpe in the district of Plön. He runs an 85-hectare dairy and fodder farm with around 50 dairy cows and has been following the guidelines of the Bioland association since 2002. He has also been writing stories and poems about rural life since the mid-1990s, some in High German, some in Low German, and he is the author and narrator of Low German texts for the legendary NDR radio series "Hör mal`n beten to".
His first book "Verliebt Trecker fahren" was published in the fall of 2003, followed by further books, published in High German by AbL Bauernblatt Verlag in Hamm and in Low German by Quickborn Verlag, Hamburg. The oeuvre has now grown to over a dozen books and two handfuls of audio CDs, and Matthias Stührwoldt continues to write undaunted. Most recently, the titles "Ünnern Heven" (2022) and the anthology "Quer dörch" (2023) were published in Low German, as well as the short story collection "Vorglühen" (2022) in High German.
Matthias Stührwoldt is also passionate about reading and telling his stories to audiences all over Germany, especially in the north. The important thing is that he can milk again in the morning, because he says he has the best ideas while milking. In other words: without the inspiring effect of milking, he probably wouldn't have come up with anything for a long time.

To illustrate the invigorating effect of his texts, here is just one quote from a farmer's wife, for Matthias Stührwoldt the greatest compliment of his career:"I read it to my husband in bed at night and he didn't fall asleep!"
