Grażyna Bacewicz: Overture for Orchestra (1943)
Frédéric Chopin: Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 2 in F minor op. 21
Claude Debussy:

Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune (1894)
Albert Roussel:

Bacchus et Ariane op. 43 Ballet (1930)Since the flute of the 'Faun', music has breathed differently, Pierre Boulez formulated, aiming at the novel and beguilingly floating world of sound that wrote music history in France at the end of the 19th century with the premiere of Debussy's Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune. Decades later, his compatriot Albert Roussel composed the ballet Bacchus et Ariane and based the plot on the ancient Ariadne myth with music full of unbridled energy and an overwhelming rush of sound.
Polish conductor Łukasz Borowicz opens the three evenings with the energetic and powerful overture by Grażyna Bacewicz, who is considered the first Polish composer of international renown. Rooted in the tradition of her country, she was just as influenced by French culture as Frédéric Chopin had been a good century earlier. His Piano Concerto in F minor, a youthful masterpiece full of romantic longing, was inspired by his first love, but was later dedicated to another muse.
Bulgarian pianist Plamena Mangova, who gained international attention at the Concours Reine Elisabeth, makes her Rostock debut with this work.
