The 36th state-wide art show of the BBK Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is dedicated to the field of tension between identity and space and the role of art and culture in public spaces under the title "Hochstapeln".
The exhibition will take place from May 10 to July 12, 2026 in the Städtische Galerie Wollhalle Güstrow, in the Getrudenkapelle and on the grounds of the Gertrudenkapelle (Gertrudenplatz 1) in Güstrow.
The starting point of the exhibition is the observation that our living spaces are created through layering: Functions, memories, expectations and meanings overlap and condense into spaces that we inhabit, traverse and experience. "Hochstapeln" understands these condensations not only as structural or spatial phenomena, but also as processes that structure perception, access and participation.
