The association Museum Jagdschloss Gelbensande e.V. lets visitors immerse themselves in the history of the house and shows them the lovingly restored living quarters of the representation floor as a museum with regular exhibitions, concerts and guided tours.
The Gelbensande hunting lodge was built by the court architect Gotthilf Ludwig Möckel in 1885/87 as a summer and hunting lodge for the Mecklenburg grand dukes and is characterized by its special architecture. In various places, the close relationship between the Mecklenburg ruling dynasty and the Russian tsarist dynasty can be seen. For example, the wooden roof was built in the style of Russian boyar houses. As the parental home of the last German Crown Princess Cecilie and the Danish Queen Alexandrine, it is of particular historical significance.
