The "Fountain of the Joy of Life" on the University Square in Rostock was created by the Rostock artists Reinhard Dietrich and Jo Jastram and inaugurated on June 27, 1980.
As an inner-city place to stay, the "Fountain of the Joy of Living" in Rostock symbolizes the unity and interrelationship between man, animal and water. With its groups of figures, 26 bubblers and 18 fountains, it represents a landmark of the Hanseatic city.
