A place to marvel, experiment, and get hands-on.
In the heart of the Mecklenburg countryside, in the Loosen district of the municipality of Alt Krenzlin, you can still experience traditional craftsmanship firsthand. The historic carding mill is a special place where old craft techniques are preserved and kept alive with great attention to detail.
The focus is on wool processing—from the raw material to the yarn you create yourself. During carding, wool fibers are loosened, cleaned, and aligned using special carding machines. Depending on what’s on offer, visitors can look over the craftsmen’s shoulders, ask questions, and learn about the steps of the process up close.
Those who’d like to get hands-on and learn even more about wool processing can book wool dyeing and spinning courses upon request.
In a relaxed atmosphere, visitors can try new things, exchange ideas with others, and experience just how much joy there is in working with wool. Along the way, they’ll also gain insight into a piece of regional craft and everyday history.
