Coastal forests on the Baltic Sea

Pure nature between windbreaks and national parks

Shaped by the wind over the years and with the Baltic Sea always in view, the coastal forests on the Baltic Sea with their characteristic windbreaks are in the front row.

Although they all have one thing in common, the unobstructed view of the Baltic Sea, the views from the majestic cliffs or the sandy beaches are so different and varied.

Costal forests on the Baltic Sea with a unique landscape full of windswept trees

The unobstructed view of the Baltic Sea and the special atmosphere of the coastal forests once inspired renowned artists to create masterpieces. To this day, the coastal forests on the Baltic Sea cast a spell over visitors - they are sought-after photo motifs and invite you to linger. Rad - and Hiking trails lead through the varied coastline with its coniferous, deciduous and mixed forests. During guided hikes, photo workshops and excursions, experienced guides provide a detailed insight into the special features of the flora, fauna and the changing landscape. On the new Discovery Trail of the Rostock Heath, visitors can learn about the fauna and flora of the region at ten stations.

Whether the coastal forest of the Rostock Heath, the ghost forest on the Mecklenburg Baltic coast, the forest in the Western Pomerania Bodden Landscape National Park, the in Jasmund National Park and the Usedom coastal forest - so many ways to actively experience nature on the coast.

Rostock – Hanseatic city with a unique coastal forest climate

The Rostock Heath is home to the largest contiguous coastal forest in Germany. In a small area you have very different climatic conditions - the cooler seaside, the wind-protected coastal forest and the warmer area inland behind it. These temperature differences between water and land result in an intensive exchange of air. A walk in the Rostock Heath is therefore not only relaxing for allergy sufferers.
