What does runner Anne Schönrock have that others don't? The most beautiful running routes right on her doorstep - along cliffs and lagoons, on beaches and in untouched forests

Anne Schönrock jogs weightlessly along the beach in Dierhagen. A fine ripple covers her face. Her blue eyes sparkle. Her breathing is regular, while birds of prey fly high in the sky over the Fischland-Darlingst peninsula. Anne Schönrock's passion is running. Five, ten, sometimes 15 kilometers at a stretch. She looks like the happiest person in the world when she does.

No wonder with the scenery! Where other joggers are forced to trot alongside busy roads or through high-rise canyons, Anne on Fischland-Darß-Zingst is spoiled for choice between the most beautiful natural routes of all. Sometimes she trains on the dramatic cliffs of Ahrenshoop, with its glittering Baltic Sea panorama. Then on the dead-straight paths along the Bodden, where gentle breezes ripple the water and cranes migrate over the salt marshes in the fall. Or on Dar's west beach, in the Western Pomerania Bodden Landscape National Park, where windswept pines rise from the sand and the path leads over springy forest soil. Anne loves the mixture of salt air and resinous forest scent, which she thinks only exists here.
Anne prefers to run on the forest floor. Or along the water. Her „home run“ takes her from Ribnitz to Dierhagen beach, where she has already spotted deer on the dunes. And where she likes to jump into the sea at the end of a training session. And not just in summer. She dares to get into the water as early as March. She does her laps all year round. However, she prefers to go out in the off-season. Because there are fewer people around. In winter, by the way, she likes to kick off her shoes on the beach. And runs barefoot – and happily – through the ice-cold surf.
