Beautiful riding stables in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

The Dalwitz estate, which is over 650 years old, lives and breathes history. If you walk through the imposing gatehouse over light-colored cobblestones to the open stables between tall trees, you almost feel like old nobility - except that nowadays you fetch your horse from the paddock yourself. Not only do 300 cattle and 50 sheep live on the extensive estate grounds, but also around 80 Criollos live in the herd all year round. This makes the Dalwitz estate one of the largest Criollo breeders in Germany.

This South American horse breed is particularly known for its robustness, willingness to work and good character and is used at Gut Dalwitz to drive cattle, among other things. Due to these characteristics, Criollos are the perfect leisure and training horses and have delighted the estate's guests for many years.

During a vacation at Gut Dalwitz, you can not only enjoy rides over the beautiful, expansive estate grounds, but also learn how to drive cattle with the agile Criollos or even try your hand at polocrosse. Polocrosse is a combination of polo and lacrosse, in which two opposing teams on horseback try to get a rubber ball into the opposing team's goal with long strides.

If that's a bit too exciting for you, sign up for a relaxed ride over the estate grounds or for serenity training - even with your own horse. The relaxed rides are a wonderful opportunity for (re)beginners in particular to get to know the friendly and well-balanced horses. At the affiliated Rodenberg riding facility, guests also have the opportunity qualified riding lessons in English riding style and Western riding.

And if you want a bit more action, you can learn how to drive cattle like the South American gauchos and help with driving and moving the cattle. Or take part in a drag hunt with the Mecklenburg dog pack from the Rodenberg riding stable - such as the traditional Amazon hunt on Whit Monday. There is a suitable horse and activity for every rider and every level of experience at Gut Dalwitz.

After a long day in the saddle, the in-house restaurant offers Uruguayan and regional specialties with the best ingredients from our own cultivation and the region. The regular asado barbecue evenings with the estate's organic beef are a real taste of Südamerica.

The ART.Quartier is beautifully situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Starkow between tall trees on the banks of the River Barthe. Here you can not only stay in one of the cozy vacation homes, but also in real Mongolian yurts during the summer months.

The offer for horse lovers ranges from natural horsemanship lessons to riding and tango to yoga for riders. (Re-)beginners, fearful riders and, of course, everyone else can learn how to approach and work with horses in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

You can tell that the horses are doing very well in their herd and with attentive handling: they are open-minded, relaxed and friendly and it is a pleasure to work with them and learn from them. Once the connection between rider and horse has been strengthened during ground work, you can set off on extended rides in the beautiful landscape between the Bodden coast and the hinterland or even on multi-day trail rides.

The Ehmkendorf manor house is situated on a hill with a view of an idyllic meadow landscape with cows and sheep. A path winds its way from the manor house through the green hills far into the Recknitz valley. Ehmkendorf is a perfect starting point for long rides or as a trail riding station. Guests with their own horse and dog are welcome at any time and it is possible to book a riding tour by the hour or day if you don't want to explore the diverse landscape on your own.

The 250-year-old manor house has been renovated and, with its lovingly furnished rooms, the large, antique kitchen, the cozy fireplace room and its extensive park with vegetable garden, wild herb garden and paddocks, offers an atmosphere that is perfect for relaxing and unwinding. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and really wind down, this is the place for you.

For guests with their own horse, there are grass and forest paddocks as well as a small sand riding arena and riding rings. There are regular courses on horse and dog topics, such as hoof orthopaedics or yoga and riding for finer communication with your own horse, seat and body training and rides in the surrounding area.
