Lecture and discussion with Michael Kretschmar, Verband der Gartenfreunde e.V. Hansestadt RostockThe

allotment garden is more than the much-cited oasis in the middle of the city, it is also a reflection of the times, a part of our cultural identity. From the beginning of the 19th century, allotment gardens were created in Germany to solve the "problem of the poor". It was not the hoped-for solution to the social problems in the working-class districts.
