Female photographers from Brest and Rostock explore the city at night
From September 21 to October 10, 2026 , the German-French photography project “Through the Night in Rostock” will take place in Rostock.
Four female photographers from Brest (Brittany) and Rostock (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) — Bénédicte de Kersabiec, Nathalie Le Roux, Silke Paustian, and Jana Wehbe— will explore people, architecture, and everyday life in public spaces through their photography.
The focus is particularly on nightlife in Rostock: Where do people meet, where does community form, and where does loneliness manifest itself? And how do women experience public spaces at night?
The project combines artistic photography with a feminist perspective on visibility, safety, and the reclamation of urban spaces. The project will conclude with five exhibitions featuring accompanying discussions, during which we will view the images together, share our impressions, and engage in conversation.
