2027 Season at the Pirate Action Open-Air Theater
The year was 1670. The small Caribbean island of Bahia Honda was once again under Spanish control. Apart from a small lagoon with turquoise water, pine trees, palm groves surrounding the island, and the imposing Fort Real, located just behind the deep-water harbor, there was nothing of significance on the island. However, the island’s location was crucial and had piqued the interest of more than just the Spanish. Seafaring nations such as England and France also suddenly took an interest in the tiny island along the old shipping route from the New World to Old Europe. More and more ships, laden with gold and silver, sailed on the waves of the Gulf Stream through the Florida Strait, past Bahia Honda. And so this speck in the vastness of the Caribbean Sea increasingly came into the sights of pirates from all nations. Ships flying the skull-and-crossbones flag at their masts called at the quiet little island so they could carry out their piratical raids at sea at the right moment. The fact that there was also water and salt on the island was a minor bonus that every sailor gladly accepted. Governor Don Alonso, appointed by the Spanish Crown, ruled the island from Fort Real. His mission harbored a dark secret that not even his beautiful and courageous daughter, Isabella, could discern. And so it was no coincidence that young Master Flint first encountered pirates—those adventurers of the seas—who would determine his fate for all time. Amid the thunder of cannons, cracking planks, and burning sails, our Joshua Flint quickly learned to distinguish that dreams and reality are two different things. His encounters with the notorious pirate captain Baltasar Yoha and his crew plunged our Master Flint into a whirlwind of events that would have been enough for two lifetimes. And so, here on Bahia Honda, began the fateful encounters of Captain Joshua Flint—from an orphaned boy and dishwasher at the tavern “Zum Dicken Blasius” to one of the most feared and richest pirates of all time. Catapulted into an era when ships were still made of wood and men were made of iron, Joshua Flint’s adventure with the “Pirates’ Treasure” began.
