"Fatherlands"- A literary-musical program

On this evening, where past and present intersect, siblings Sabin Tambrea and Alina Armonas-Tambrea combine their family history with music, which has always been an important companion in their lives. While both were trained on the violin by their parents from an early age, Alina has continued on the musical path as the language of her vocation; Sabin, on the other hand, has opted for acting. Since his films "Ludwig ll.", as Kafka in "The Splendor of Life", the

"Ku'damm" series and many others, he is one of the acting elite of his generation and has now published his second novel "Vaterländer", which has been on the bestseller lists for more than twelve weeks.

In it, Sabin Tambrea travels back into his family's past and tells the story of his Romanian-Hungarian family through the eyes of three generations: the boy Sabin, his father Bela and his grandfather Horea. A novel about new beginnings, hardship and powerlessness in the face of a merciless political system. A novel about the consequences of injustice, the consequences of decisions and a tender love story. The story of his parents - and on this special evening also the story of his siblings.

Sabin Tambrea

Sabin Tambrea was born in Romania in 1984 and grew up in Hagen, Germany, from the age of four. Tambrea was not yet twenty when he was one of the founders of the youth theater "Lutz - Junge Bühne Hagen" in 2003, where he performed in a series of plays until 2006. From there, he went straight on to study at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin, where he graduated in 2010.

Even before graduating from drama school, Tambrea was appointed to the renowned Berliner Ensemble for the 2009/2010 season. His roles there included productions of the Frank Wedekind classics "Frühlings Erwachen" (directed by Claus Peymann) and "Lulu" (directed by Robert Wilson) as well as a production of Shakespeare's "Was ihr wollt" (directed by Katharina Thalbach) in the 2012/13 season. At the end of 2012, he played his first leading role in a movie: in Marie Noëlle and Peter Sehr's historical drama "Ludwig II", he played the title role of the legendary Bavarian king. This performance earned him the Bavarian Film Award (Young Actor Award), the New Faces Award and a nomination for the German Film Award, among others.

Film Award.

Tambrea then made further cinema appearances in the Second World War drama "Das große Heft" (2013), in the modern Bible adaptation "Jesus Cries" (2015) and in the romantic thriller "Ma Folie" (FR/AT 2015), as the jealous French lover of Alice Dwyer's main character.

Tambrea has often been cast (mostly on television) as a sinister character or villain. Philipp Kadelbach gave him the part of the diabolical SS-Untersturmführer Hermann Reineboth in the TV adaptation of "Naked Among Wolves" (2015).

The highly acclaimed TV three-parter "Ku'damm 56" (2016) shows Tambrea in a leading role as the narcissistic, sexually violent son of a factory owner. His character in the TV thriller "Jack the Ripper - A Woman Hunts a Murderer" (2016), as the hunter of the notorious London serial killer, was positive. After a leading role in the film biopic "Marie Curie" (2016), as Swedish ambassador August Gyldenstolpe, he played the title role in the TV Christmas film "Rübezahls Schatz" (2017). In addition, Tambrea continued to appear as a member of the Berliner Ensemble in several stage productions, such as "Peter Pan" (2013, title role), "The Cannibals" (2014) and "Prince Frederick of Homburg" (2017, title role). He left the ensemble in 2017. Since then, he has concentrated primarily on cinema and television work.

In the following years, he took on numerous leading and formative roles in cinema, television and streaming productions, including the ZDF series Ku'damm 59/63, Babylon Berlin, the title role in Narcissus and Goldmund, the series Deutsches Haus and the feature film In einem Land, das es nicht mehr gibt, for which he was honored with the Günter Rohrbach Actor Award in 2022. The German-Romanian co-production Hackerville was awarded the Grimme Prize; Tambrea also appeared in the competition at the Cannes Film Festival in La Gomera by Corneliu Porumboiu.

In 2021, his fictional debut novel Nachtleben was published, which entered the SPIEGEL bestseller list in the week of publication. His second novel Vaterländer followed in 2024, a three-generation family novel about flight, origin and identity, which remained on the bestseller lists for over 20 weeks.

Sabin Tambrea was most recently seen as Franz Kafka in the literary adaptation Die Herrlichkeit des Lebens (directed by Georg Maas, Judith Kaufmann) and in Heimweg, a Sebastian Fitzek adaptation for Amazon Prime. He can currently be seen in the ARD series Oderbruch and in the fourth season of the Ku'damm series (Ku'damm 77). The films Kochschule Schwarz by Dani Levy, in which he plays alongside Hannah Herzsprung and Florian David Fitz, and Schatten, in which he was in front of the camera with his wife Alice Dwyer, are due for release.
