An anniversary is coming up. Fresh heroes are being sought. A journalist comes across the unsuccessful video store owner Micha (Charly Hübner), who is said to have organized a mass escape in GDR times. The whole thing is not even half true, but Micha gets involved, partly reluctantly, partly flattered, and suddenly finds himself at the center of a huge media frenzy. What's more, he falls in love with public prosecutor Paula (Christiane Paul), who also sees a hero in him ... A comedy directed by Wolfgang Becker ("Good Bye Lenin").
