Hike to the Gülitz forest moors
In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, around a tenth of the forests grow on moors. These forest bogs play an important role in the functioning of forest ecosystems. Due to the water-storing function of their mighty bog bodies, forest bogs have a stabilizing effect on the local water balance and have a positive influence on the inland climate.
The Mecklenburg Schweiz and Lake Kummerow Nature Park Promotion Association is organizing a hike on this topic to raise public awareness of the importance of forest bogs.
The meeting point is at the forest parking lot approx. 700 m north of Gülitz on the L20 towards Neukalen.
