Exhibition

Mona Lawrenz and Anke Bastrop, two artists living in Mecklenburg, explore the theme of water through the mediums of photography and poetry.

Mona Lawrenz photographs forms of water that she captures in the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, in Iceland’s glaciers, rivers, clouds, and falling snow. Based in Mecklenburg, artists Mona Lawrenz and Anke Bastrop explore the theme of water through the mediums of photography and poetry, highlighting its inherent beauty, vulnerability, and fragility, as well as in fog.

Her photographs tell of the endless cycles of life. Anke Bastrop draws on the language of water in her poems and traces an infinite network of waterways that extends throughout both the external and internal worlds. In their harmony, the images and poems in the exhibition resonate with one another and reveal a tension between what is lost and what cannot be lost.

The exhibition is a joint production by Monika Lawrenz and Denkmal Kultur Mestlin e.V.
