Sailors and participants wanted
The Förderkreis des Schifffahrtsmuseums Rostock invites you to the open boatyard day in the IGA Park on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the historic boatyard up close and take a look behind the scenes of traditional craftsmanship.
Volunteers will be on site to present their work and provide exciting insights into boat building, blacksmithing and reep beating. The sailing boats "Oll Stromer" and "Dwarskopp" as well as motorboats, including the "Macker", can also be viewed directly on site.
The event will also focus on how interested parties can get involved themselves. The support group will provide an insight into various volunteering opportunities at the boatyard and around the Rostock Maritime Museum. We are particularly looking for supporters who would like to get involved in maintaining the boats or taking part in regattas.
The afternoon offers space for discussions, exchanges and getting to know each other personally in a relaxed atmosphere with barbecue sausages, coffee and cake.
Interested parties can register in advance by e-mail at info@schifffahrtsmuseum-rostock.de, but are also welcome to drop by spontaneously. If you would like to get an idea in advance, you can find impressions and background information on the boatyard's YouTube channel:
