Learn about nature, species and climate protection at Rostock Zoo.
On May 21 and 22, everything at Rostock Zoo will revolve around the topics of species conservation and biodiversity.
On Thursday, May 21, the Rostock Zoo Association will be holding its Species Conservation Day. Whether orangutans, gorillas, tree kangaroos or various botanical species - many animal and plant species are highly endangered. They all need our attention and protection. With great hands-on activities and exciting information stands, visitors of all ages can learn why species conservation is so important and how everyone can make a simple contribution.
School classes have free admission on this day. One accompanying person per 10 pupils is also free of charge.
This will be followed on May 22 by the State Zoo Day of Biodiversity. A total of 15 zoos, animal parks and aquariums in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will be taking part on this day. They all offer hands-on activities, information stands, guided tours and insights behind the scenes. The focus is on native species, tips for near-natural gardens, species conservation projects and the links between climate protection and biodiversity. Children and families can playfully learn how they themselves can contribute to the preservation of nature.
At Rostock Zoo, visitors' thirst for knowledge will be quenched on this day. The sustainability mobile and information stands on the species conservation projects Sphenisco, Polar Bears International, Plant for Future and many more will demonstrate the importance of diversity as well as species and nature conservation.
