A musical play for the whole family (ages 6 and up) by Kerstin Zühlsdorff, directed by Anita Wunderle.
On a bus ride, the poodle girls Bella & Bellissima, the stray Jo, and the guide dog Robert von Hohenhausen meet. The four dogs couldn’t be more different, and yet they share something crucial. They’re tired of always just “functioning” and meeting their humans’ expectations. Without further ado, the friends make a bold decision and run away to finally live a life of freedom. But soon, the challenges of everyday life present them with unexpected problems. When the dogs eventually end up at an animal shelter, they realize that freedom isn’t always as easy as they’d imagined.
With music, humor, and heart, “Of Dogs and People” tells a story about friendship, solidarity, and the courage to seek one’s own path. The bus ride becomes a journey through life and raises questions that adults and children alike can relate to: Who actually decides how I should live? How much freedom do I need? And what does it mean to take responsibility for myself and for others?
