Summer cinema under the stars
When the sun sets over the Bodden, harbors and Baltic Sea, the time for nature films in the open air and special encounters begins on Fischland-Darß-Zingst. The Nature Film Nights give a foretaste of the 22nd Darß Nature Film Festival, which will take place on the Baltic Sea peninsula from October 6 to 11, 2026.
Film: "H wie Habicht"
When Helen's beloved father dies, she is overwhelmed by deep grief and loses herself in memories of their time together watching birds and exploring nature. Obsessed with the idea of training a hawk herself, she brings the imposing bird Mabel to live with her in Cambridge.
Determined to face the arduous process of taming one of the wildest animals, Helen fills her freezer with food and switches off her phone. But as she tries to teach Mabel to hunt and fly on her own, she realizes how much she has neglected her own feelings and life.
Based on the international bestseller and award-winning memoir by Helen Macdonald, "H for Hawk" tells a true story of a stirring journey about the connection between people and nature - and how to overcome loss through love.
