The sound of the flute is our individual voice, whose beauty and expressiveness we constantly cultivate. Through individual coaching sessions, group workshops, and flute chamber music, we’ll explore the complex physicality of tone production using prominent examples from the flute repertoire and identify paths to the “vocal tone.” Aspects of anatomy and physical therapy will open up new perspectives on our own body awareness while playing. The course teaches how to use the flutist’s tools of the trade—from posture and breathing to embouchure, intonation, and articulation. It explores the central question of how the inner ear learns to listen to the heart and transform flute playing into song.
The course is open to both amateurs and professionals, and to players of modern and historical flutes alike.
