Against the unique backdrop of the sea and horizon on the Hohe Ufer, we are once again ending the 2026 concert series with an evening full of premieres and a tribute to the composer Friedrich von Flotow (1812-83). He was born in Sanitz near Rostock, studied music in Paris and was friends with Charles Gounod and Jacques Offenbach. He became world-famous with his opera "Martha". The "title song" of the evening, an Irish folk song to bid farewell to summer, comes from this opera. Pianists Ulrike Mai and Lutz Gerlach will be joined by the trio "Catfish Row" with Anett Levander (vocals), Christian Raake (sax & flute) and Dirk Steglich on bass clarinet. Under their motto "Great music in a small line-up", they will be presenting works by George Gershwin such as "Summertime" and his almost classical "Preludes". Felix Thiemann is also expected as a guest on the cello. Together with the hosts Mai & Gerlach, they will perform works by Bach, Rachmaninov, Ravel's "Bolero" and new compositions by Lutz Gerlach in various instrumentations. Experience a concert with a musical range that is second to none (just like the venue).
