The film shows the devastating consequences of highly toxic pesticides in South Africa: the soil, water, and food are contaminated, and people are suffering—especially farmworkers, who are exposed to these toxins every day. The film will be screened as part of the Weltwechseltage MV.
But what does this have to do with us? Here in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, some different regulations apply—but the global food chain connects us: What
happens in South Africa also affects our diet here. Pesticides that are banned in Europe continue to be used in other countries
—often to serve the profit interests of large agribusiness corporations.
The film exposes: a lack of regulation, a lack of oversight, and global injustice. But it also shows that an alternative form of agriculture is possible. An event presented by the Stralsund Environmental Library in cooperation with the INKOTA-netzwerk e.V.
