October 16 is a historically significant date. The Georgengemeinde invites you to a festive commemorative concert at Georgenkirche. The renowned Berlin organist Till Hass will perform on the historic Friedrich-Hermann-Lütkemüller organ, built in 1856.
October 16 is a historically significant date for the town of Waren (Müritz) and all of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. On this day in 1989, the state’s first peaceful demonstration began at St. Georgen Church. Today, Waren is considered a central site of remembrance for the Peaceful Revolution in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, as symbolized by the “Democracy and Freedom” memorial directly in front of the church.
To mark the anniversary of this event, the St. George’s Parish invites you to a festive commemorative concert at St. George’s Church on Friday, October 16, at 7:30 p.m. The renowned Berlin organist Till Hass will perform on the historic Friedrich-Hermann-Lütkemüller organ from 1856.
The musical program bridges the gap between deep reflection and a festive new beginning. To this end, Till Hass will perform selected masterpieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert Schumann, César Franck, Oskar Lindberg, and Olivier Messiaen. In these turbulent times, the music is intended to serve as spiritual nourishment, helping to actively shape the spirit of freedom and democracy in the present and the future.
Admission to this festive concert is free. Donations are requested at the exit.
