Nina's father works in a factory, where one day a hedgehog gets lost. He tells Nina about it and invents a bedtime story about the animal. The stories about the hedgehog discovering the world and trying out different professions soon become a lovely family ritual. Until one evening her father is too tired for it.
When the adults talk, they do so quietly and speak in incomprehensible sentences. It quickly becomes clear that they don't want to explain everything to the children: Why things are difficult at the company, why they are worried or that the father is losing his job because the company has to close. Nevertheless, the children get the gist of the story - you will notice this as a moviegoer too.
Because Nina's father can't find a new job and the new situation is making things worse for him, Nina decides that she wants to do something - and not just for the sake of the beautiful hedgehog adventures. She has heard that the boss of the factory has stolen money and hidden it. If only she could find this money and help her parents! Together with her friend Mehdi and the little hedgehog in her head, Nina sets off in search of the treasure.
