Poetry, Songs, Pictures
How vibrant is culture in times when people say, “We all have to try harder and tighten our belts”? We’re trying to find out with one of the country’s most interesting authors: Anne Martin, who consistently manages to draw clever, tragicomic texts and beautiful melodies from difficult circumstances. In her poetry collection “sollbruchstellen” (Parasitenpresse, 2023) and in the music she produces with her band project “kaftan,” she explores the limits of consumer society and the impositions of a daily life steeped in neoliberalism. The lyrics and songs oscillate between irony and a serious analysis of the present—an all-around invigorating evening.
Anne Martin, born in 1986, lives in Greifswald as an author, visual artist, and singer-songwriter. She writes poetry and prose, some of which she performs set to music, and has been published in anthologies and magazines. In 2022, she was awarded both the Jury Prize and the 1st Audience Choice Award of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Literature Prize.
