Alhierd Bacharevič reads from "The Paper Golem"
The author, who was awarded the 2025 Leipzig Book Prize for European Understanding, presents his new book: a collection of very short texts that purport to be diary entries or essays—although, according to the Belarusian author, they are not. Bacharevič asks himself, “What does it mean today to be a writer, an emigrant, a man, a Belarusian, a European? But above all: What does it mean to be a human being—with one’s dreams and fears, ambitions, envy, weaknesses, and strengths?”
