The world we live in is changing at a breakneck pace—at the same time, realities within a society are drifting apart; not even the individual lives in a coherent world anymore. With sharp wit but also great compassion, Dorota Masłowska captures this reality—at once humorous and deadly serious. Her characters—a macho banker on a womanizing spree, an advertising filmmaker on a cocaine high, a young angler and a swimmer in distress, between whom a magical connection develops, and a woman who finds herself in a shabby hotel through total self-revelation—live in a world full of pretense and loneliness, and yet they become deeply drawn characters in paradise.
