The Kunstverein in Schwerin presents the first institutional solo exhibition of the artist Adriana Ramić in Germany
EN
With "Confusion model into a butterfly", the Kunstverein für Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Schwerin is presenting the first institutional solo exhibition of the artist Adriana Ramić in Germany. Influenced by the experiences of a transcultural childhood, questions of language, translation and belonging are reflected in Ramić's artistic practice. In installations, video works and texts, her works negotiate central questions about hybrid identities, transcultural forms of knowledge and the limits of anthropocentric thinking. Adriana Ramić develops poetic, conceptual works that operate both analytically and speculatively and make visible references to the political realities of the present and history. At the center of her exhibition at the Kunstverein is a video installation that follows the cat Oursa in her living environment. The cat lives in the former home of Albanian dictator Enver Hoxha, which is now used as an artists' residence and cultural center and where the artist herself was a guest at the end of last year. The exhibition will be complemented by an accompanying catalog project.

Shaped by the experience of a transcultural childhood, questions of language, translation, and belonging are reflected throughout her artistic practice. Working across installation, video and text, her works engage with questions of hybrid identities, transcultural forms of knowledge, and the limits of anthropocentric modes of thought. Adriana Ramić develops poetic, conceptual works that operate equally analytically and speculatively, making visible connections to political realities of both the present and the past. At the center of her exhibition at the Kunstverein is a video installation that follows the cat Oursa in her living environment.
