There is an impressive beech tree in the Parchimer Buchholz.
An impressive beech tree can be found in the Parchim Buchholz. It is dedicated to teacher Willi Zachow (1900–1967), who was deeply involved in researching local history, particularly in the 1950s and 1960s. As the district nature conservation officer, director of the Parchim City Museum, and archaeological heritage conservator, he championed causes that are continued today through research into regional history and efforts to protect and preserve the natural environment. The plaque bearing his name on this beech tree serves as a memorial to Willi Zachow and his legacy. You can hike in the Buchholz forest year-round.
